ALLEGHANY TEEN WRITERS WORKSHOP

Teen writers, do you enjoy dreaming up story ideas? Do you want to grow your skills? Are you looking for a group of other teen writers who share your interest?

Then join authors John Claude Bemis and Jonah Greene for a special online workshop this March!

The classes will be a unique opportunity to learn from published authors and connect with other writers in a supportive and fun environment. We’ll be exploring topics like character development, plotting, and everything from how to start a story to how to stick with it to the end. And hopefully the three-class workshop will be able to grow into an ongoing gathering for teen writers in Alleghany County.

The three-week class for ages 13-18 will meet on Zoom on Thursdays March 11, 18, and 25 from 4 – 6 pm. The workshops are free, made possible through donations to the Writing Across the Curriculum Fund and Alleghany Writers.

What past writers and parents have said about John’s workshops:

“My daughter absolutely LOVED your workshop. It was the most engaged I've seen her since the pandemic.”

“I loved Mr. Bemis’s writing class, even the things I love in-person that I haven’t enjoyed as much online, but this was so fun! I was always in a good mood after getting off the computer and learned at least 2 things every day. I got to write a bunch of short stories and add on to them later. I would definitely do this again and recommend it to everyone!”
