TEEN BI-MONTHLY WRITING WORKSHOP Fall 2021

“John Bemis is an amazing teacher who engages and inspires me to take my writing to the next level! I have been in his class for three years and have just loved having an open space to share stories with other youth and to have the mentorship of a local author.” ~ quote from a 17 year old student

This twice monthly workshop for teens meets from 10 am – 12 noon ET every other Wednesday from Sept. 8th through Dec. 15th. The eight sessions are $200. The class is structured around independent student writing—either short pieces or a longer, evolving novel. Students will share their writing and get constructive, supportive feedback. Lessons will be built around needs assessed from the student writing with a focus on character development, plot structure, narrative point of view, and handling backstory, exposition, and “showing rather than telling.”

All classes will be held on Zoom. Space is limited, so register soon by using the below online registration form or by emailing John.

“I loved Mr. Bemis’s writing class, even the things I love in-person that I haven’t enjoyed as much online, but this was so fun! I was always in a good mood after getting off the computer and learned at least 2 things every day. I got to write a bunch of short stories and add on to them later. I would definitely do this again and recommend it to everyone!”
